Universal
Studios: Production Central - Shrek 4-D
Universal
Studios has created a wonderful attraction with Shrek 4-D.
This attraction is set Far Far Away and the storyline takes
place after the original movie, but before the sequel. While
the storyline is quite funny and entertaining, what makes
this movie stand apart from others is it's presentation in
Orge-Vision. While watching this movie using 3-D glasses,
the 4-D comes into play at your seat.

Stage
One: Preshow
Before
we enter the torture chamber it's worth mentioning that the
queue line outside does a great job of keeping you entertained.
As you pass the time, you can watch clips of the original
SHREK on several monitors throughout the line. Furthermore,
posters, flyers, and news article line the path. Each piece
offers a fun story where you can "get the latest"
on what's happening in a land Far Far Away.
As
you enter the holding room just outside the theater, you will
notice that you are in a torture chamber. Here you will get
your OrgeVision glasses. The Magic Mirror is here and you'll
notice three little sets of eyes (the three pig) peering our
from crates on the wall. A wooden nose (Pinnochio) is also
held captive. On the dungeon cam, the Gingerbread Man is trying
to break free from his restraints. One of Lord Farquaad's
henchmen (sarcastic yet funny) instructs you on the many rules
of the theater where violators will receive a generous supply
of floggings. When the Gingerbread man breaks free he'll let
you know that Lord Farquaad is back". The magic mirror
will give you a a short but excellent review of the first
movie and how Shrek and Fiona lived happily ever after. However,
the ghost of Lord Farquaad has returned from he beyond to
spring his ghastly plan, seek revenge of Shrek and claim Princess
Fiona for himself. As Farquaad sets off, you are whisked away
to the theater for your torture.
Stage
Two: The Movie
With
your Ogre-Vision glasses in hand, you take you seats in the
theater and are whisked far, far away. All of your favorites
from the original film are back. The movie starts at Shrek
and Fiona embark on their honeymoon. But the adventure begins
as Fiona is kidnapped by Farquaad's henchmen, Thelonious.
Without giving away a truly fun storyline, hear is what you'll
expect. There rumbling through the eerie forest, crashing
through the Gingerbread Man's new home, exploring a haunted
graveyard, and you'll come face to face with an evil Dragon.
Along with the 3-D effects, your seats also become part of
the experience. For instance, as Shrek and Donkey ride through
the movie in their horse-drawn carriage, you will feel each
pounding hoof as you seat mimics the antics on screen. Another
couple of gags are the inevitable sneeze from one of the characters
where you are sprayed in the face and the hilarious effect
of spiders at your ankles.
Shrek
4-D is truly a funny and exciting experience at Universal
Studios, Florida. You're sure to come out laughing whether
it is your 1st or 50th time seeing the show. The theater exit
lands you in the gift shop around the corner. Just outside,
Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey will be able at the end of each show
for a Photo Op.

Universal Studios: Shrek 4-D Tips
As
with Jimmy Neutron's
Nicktoon Blast, we recommend riding this attraction when
you arrive since it is at the front of the park and line quickly
get very long. The Universal Express Pass will definitely
help in getting you in faster. Our normal course is to hit
Jimmy Neutron
first and then Shrek 4-D because
of the location of Shrek's exit around the block. However,
judge this for yourself if the Shrek
4-D express line is also building up.
There
are really no bad seats in the theater as you can see everything.
Of course you'll want to be center stage for best viewing,
so let some other guest enter before you and follow into an
already started row. At the very end of the movie, take note
as to the direction Tinkerbell flies off to see what damage
to the theater the fairy has caused.
Motorized
transportation vehicles are allowed into the theater, but
if you are able to, it's worth transferring to a theater seat
as it is a great part of the attraction. There is a row in
the middle of the theater for the vehicles to stay, but you
can park them there and sit right next to it.
