Universal Studios - E.T. Adventure

Universal Studios: KIDZONE: E.T. Adventure

It's hard to believe, but E.T. is now over 20 years old. The E.T. Adventure at Universal Studios was personally supervised by Steven Speilberg. This attraction was touched up in March 2002 to coincided with the re-release of the films 20th Anniversary. While this attraction is mild as far as thrill rides go, it it literally an "uplifting" experience and you dash through the forest and are magically transported to E.T.'s home planet. This is a fantastic ride for ALL ages.

Stage One: Waiting Room Briefing

As you enter the theater waiting room, you are greeted by Steven Spielberg, who informs us E.T. has crash landed on Earth 10,000 light years from home and he needs your help to get him home. E.T.'s home world, "The Green Planet", is dying. Only E.T.'s magical healing touch can save his planet. As you exit the Waiting Room, you are given a special pass which you are instructed to give your name prior to your leaving.

Stage Two: The Forest

As you enter the cue line, you are transported into a dark forest, which is probably the most impressive waiting area of any park. As you make your way through, we see NASA Astronauts searching the forest for E.T.. Look fast! You may catch a glimpse of E.T.'s heart as he runs through the forest. In the center of the forest E.T.'s teacher, Botanticus, appears and asks the people of Earth to help E.T. get home. Towards the end of the woods you'll find E.T.'s Speak-and-Spell phone calling home. Next it's off to to save E.T.

Stage Three: The Bike Ride and Voyage to The Green Planet

You and your group will be seated on your very own bicycle with E.T. in the basket up front. You're off, making your way through the forest while Police and scientist block your path. Just like the movie, E.T. will use his magic to send you high above the forest and city below. Now it's time to warp to the Green Planet. E.T.'s homeworld is dying, the creatures here need E.T.'s help. With his magic touch, E.T. breathes new life into the planet. A celebration engulfs your surroundings. One last thing to do before you warp home is for E.T. to say "Thank you" to each and every one by name.

An option is available for Handicap visitors to ride in a Spaceship instead of on a bicycle. If at all possible try to sit in the front row and on the left hand side. You'll see more of the action on E.T.'s homeworld and get a great view of the city below.
Take notice of the moon as you travel above the city. You'll see E.T., Elliott, and his friends soar across the moon. A final note, take a listen to E.T. as the ride concludes, he will thank you personally by calling your name.

Back in 1990, the E.T. Adventure had a different Preshow Movie. Click Here to View this Vintage Video!
